Internal proposals are due by Tuesday 4/2.

The NIH Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) program has released a Request for Applications (RFA) for administrative supplements to CFAR P30 grants.  The Third Coast CFAR grant led by Dr. Richard D’Aquila is eligible for these supplements.  Applications to NIH are due May 8, 2019.  We would like to hear from investigators who might be interested in leading or contributing to a team project.

Download the full RFA.

Summary of RFA:

  • This NIH funding opportunity is in support of the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EtHE) initiative.
  • Projects must be led by a collaboration that includes a PI-eligible faculty investigator and investigators at a health department or CBO funded by CDC/HRSA.
  • These are planning projects that will provide investigators an opportunity to establish partnerships to develop approaches to address high priority gaps in one or more of the four pillars of the EtHE initiative:
    • Diagnose
    • Treat
    • Protect
    • Respond
  • These NIH administrative supplements, as the research platform in the EtHE initiative, will support implementation science research to address the four pillars.
  • Projects should be for the purpose of planning EtHE activities between Third Coast CFAR faculty members and collaborating partners at health departments/CBOs that would become the basis of a full grant application to HRSA, CDC, or NIH next year.
  • These planning projects may include feasibility studies, especially if collaborations have already been established and are ongoing, with the possibility that successful projects would lead into expanded implementation science studies next year.
  • The Third Coast CFAR can submit up to 3 administrative supplement applications.  Direct costs for each application are limited to $100,000 and the project period is limited to 8 months (ending 3/31/20).

Deadlines & Process

  • Description of how the project incorporates implementation science research
  • The plan to follow-up the supplement with a full proposal to CDC, HRSA, or NIH (for R mechanism) next year
  • Internal proposals are due by Tuesday 4/2.  Email to Fern Murdoch (f-murdoch@northwestern.edu)
