Administrative Core
Scientific Agenda
The Administrative Core of the Third Coast Center for AIDS Research provides coordinating leadership, management, communication, and networking for all HIV/AIDS research across Northwestern University and the University of Chicago. The administrative core also leads overarching, effective collaboration between the Chicago and Illinois Departments of Public Health, Third Coast CFAR community partners, as well as the National Institutes of Health and the national CFAR network.
Services and Resources
Research Navigation
Research Navigation is provided by the Administrative Core team, in order to link Third Coast CFAR members to specialized research design and implementation services. This will efficiently guide users to the optimal resources for their individual discipline and method-specific need. Navigation involves teamwork of our administrators with the Scientific Cores to direct members to services across Third Coast CFAR institutions.
Research Seminars and Symposia
In collaboration with the other cores, the Administrative Core holds two seminars each month to highlight state-of-the-art HIV research. The series showcases the work of global leaders and local experts in HIV basic, translational, clinical, and behavioral science. The seminar series is also designed to increase brainstorming and collaboration across disciplines and across academic institutions and community organizations.
The Third Coast CFAR also organizes an annual day-long symposium that allows the CFAR community to delve into a particular set of topics related to research on HIV prevention, treatment, and basic science. Symposia attract international speakers and bring together faculty, trainees, community partners, and practitioners interested in discussing findings from global, national, and local research.

Mentorship
Every two years the Administrative Core organizes a mentor training workshop for faculty, and the core also supports mock reviews of grant proposals through the Developmental Core.
