Synthetic biologists at Northwestern University have developed a new platform called GEMINI (Genetically Encoded Multifunctional Integrated Nanovesicles) that may remove barriers to promising cell and gene therapies for HIV. Led by Third Coast Center for AIDS Research (TC CFAR) member, Joshua Leonard, PhD, the research was recently published in the journal Nature Biomedical Engineering.
In addition to support from a TC CFAR pilot award, Leonard’s lab pursued this work with services from the center’s Viral Pathogenesis Core and close collaboration with Judd Hultquist, PhD.
