Membership

The Third Coast CFAR offers two types of membership to meet the needs of local faculty and various types of collaborators. Membership is free and registration takes only a few minutes.

In 2025, the Third Coast CFAR expanded to include new partners, RUSH University and the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). TC CFAR leadership invites faculty at RUSH and UIC to register as members and begin participating fully in CFAR activities.

Third Coast CFAR Faculty Members

Faculty membership is available to investigators at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, RUSH University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago who are eligible to apply for NIH R-level grants as a principal investigator. Faculty members can:

    • Access all core facilities and services.
    • Apply for Developmental Core awards.
    • Apply for NIH CFAR supplemental funding opportunities.

Third Coast CFAR Affiliate Members

Affiliate membership is available to a wide range of investigators, practitioners, community members, and individuals in other roles who are engaged in HIV research. Common examples of affiliate members are:

    • Faculty at external institutions who utilize TC CFAR core services through a collaborative grant with a TC CFAR faculty member.
    • Investigators, staff, or practitioners at a local health department or community-based organization that conducts HIV research or provides HIV services.
    • Postdoctoral fellows and other trainees, as well as students and staff, at Northwestern University, the University of Chicago, RUSH University, and the University of Illinois at Chicago who are engaged in HIV research.
