Dr. Kijak is a senior scientist working at the Laboratory of Molecular Virology and Pathogenesis, US Military HIV Research Program (MHRP)/Henry M Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HMJF). He has been studying HIV-1 evolution since 1998, including drug resistance, global molecular epidemiology in support of vaccine development, and host-pathogen interaction. He has authored more than 45 papers and 70 presentations at international conferences. For the past 4 years he has focused on the development and application of next-generation sequencing and bioinformatics tools for the study of early events in HIV-1 infection.
