The Reunion Project, the national alliance of HIV long-term survivors, is hosting a two-day town hall in Chicago, “Long-Term Survivors, Sharing Wisdom and Shaping Legacies,” on May 17-18, 2024. This peer-led event will be held at Loyola University. The Third Coast Center for AIDS Research (TC CFAR) is proud to co-sponsor The Reunion Project’s Town Hall through the center’s Community Dissemination Award.
The first day of the event will focus on employment and benefits for people living with HIV, produced in partnership with the National Working Positive Coalition. The second day of the event will feature a mix of facilitated discussions, presentations, and networking opportunities, all aimed at addressing the unique needs of long-term survivors and people aging with HIV in Illinois.
Confirmed speakers for Saturday, May 18 include keynote speaker Adrian Shanker, HHS Senior Advisor on LGBTQI+ Health Equity, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, US Department of Health and Human Services, who will address the administration’s federal response on HIV and aging policy; and Dr. Maya Green, Onyx Medical Wellness, who will give a presentation on HIV and aging from an intergenerational perspective.
Activities on both days will be held between 9am-5pm CT with sessions and community discussions addressing the health, wellness, and employment concerns of all individuals living and aging with HIV in the Chicago area and the state of Illinois.
The event is free, and breakfast and lunch will be provided for those who pre-register.
