Dr. Luc Anselin is the Stein-Freiler Distinguished Service Professor of Sociology and the College at the University of Chicago, where he also directs the newly established Center for Spatial Data Science. He is also a Fellow of NORC and a member of the Committee on Geographical Studies. His research deals with the analysis of geospatial data and ranges from developing new methods for data exploration, visualization and modeling to implementing them in open source software, and applying in a range of empirical contexts. He is the developer of the widely used GeoDa software for spatial data analysis. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
