The Institute for Global Health (IGH) implements innovative educational programs in Chicago and abroad to strengthen the knowledge base on global health issues for trainees and provides Feinberg School of Medicine students, residents and fellows access to valuable training experiences through its network of global partnerships. The IGH research portfolio focuses on grants from the U.S. NIH, as well as government contracts and foundation activities to conduct important research and training programs in low-income settings around the world, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. Current areas of active research encompass the fields of infectious diseases and HIV, gynecology, bioengineering and community medicine. Further efforts will build on Northwestern research strengths that may benefit from an international presence, such as oncology, endocrinology, neuroscience, microbiology, cardiology and rehabilitative medicine. Contact IGH staff for more information.
