Harvey J. Makadon, MD is the Director of Education and Training Programs at The Fenway Institute and a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He teaches about how to improve access to quality care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people in health care settings around the country. Harvey directs the National LGBT Health Education Center, a HRSA funded cooperative agreement to improve the health care of LGBT people in community health centers.

His research focuses on identifying best practices for eliciting sexual orientation and gender identity (SO/GI) from patients and how to incorporate this data in electronic health records to improve care and health outcomes.
