Irina Tabidze, MD, will present findings from Chicago’s 2022 HIV/STI Surveillance Report. This annual report presents data for new and prevalent cases of HIV, new diagnoses of chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and congenital syphilis and highlights how HIV is impacting transgender persons.
Dr. Tabidze trained as a gynecologist, and later in clinical, immunological and epidemiological aspects of STIs such as syphilis, HIV and herpes simplex viruses at Emory University School of Medicine. She obtained a master’s in public health degree in epidemiology/maternal/child health at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Tabidze is a public health professional with expertise in STI (including mother-to-child transmission of syphilis, HIV) surveillance, research and prevention and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles in prominent journals including Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Clinical Infectious Diseases, JAMA and MMWR.
